Job Description
The Opportunity
We’re looking for a practical and adaptable People & Culture Manager who enjoys being across the full employee lifecycle — not just strategy, but real day-to-day impact.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you’ll lead a small team of two (including a Payroll Officer) and partner closely with operational leaders. This role suits someone who likes variety, solves problems quickly, and takes a common-sense approach to HR.
You won’t be stuck behind policies — you’ll be helping managers hire, manage, coach and retain great people while keeping us compliant and improving how we work.
You’ll also play a key role in a major project: moving our HR systems to Dayforce HRIS.
What you’ll be doing:
Manage end-to-end recruitment and onboarding across the business
Provide practical IR advice and support managers with performance matters
Manage WorkCover claims alongside the Compliance Manager
Deliver training and support employee engagement and retention initiatives
Oversee payroll processes through the Payroll Officer and maintain HR records
Support remuneration reviews and ensure compliance with employment legislation
Lead improvements to HR processes and help implement the Dayforce HRIS
Some interstate travel may occasionally be needed
Desired Skills and Experience
What We're Looking For:
We don’t need a career corporate HR strategist — we need someone capable, curious and solutions-focused.
You will likely have:
3–7 years HR experience in a generalist or advisory role
Confidence giving practical advice to managers
Experience with recruitment and performance management
Exposure to awards and employment legislation
Strong organisation skills and attention to detail
Comfort working both independently and collaboratively
Most importantly — you’re approachable, adaptable and comfortable switching between admin, advice and improvement projects.
Why Envirolab?
Supportive and collaborative leadership team — you won’t be doing HR alone
Opportunity to build capability and grow your own skills and experience
Exposure to multi-site HR across Australia and New Zealand
Variety in your day — operational HR, projects and improvement initiatives
On-site parking available

If you enjoy hands-on HR, solving real workplace challenges, and making things work better — we’d love to hear from you.
